A clear photo of the markings on your tyre helps the shop find the right replacement. The vehicle model alone may not be enough, especially if the wheels have been changed.
What does 205/55R16 mean?
- 205 is the tyre section width in millimetres.
- 55 is the sidewall height as a percentage of section width. It does not mean 55 millimetres.
- R indicates radial construction.
- 16 is the wheel diameter in inches.
Check more than the size
Numbers and letters after the size, such as 91V, identify the load index and speed symbol. XL and Run Flat markings also have specific meanings. Check the vehicle requirements before choosing a replacement.
What should you send the shop?
Send a tyre-sidewall photo, vehicle model and year, and the number of tyres needed. Tell us whether you mainly drive in the city, travel long distances or carry loads. Have a specialist check any change from the original wheel or tyre size.
